Controller Interface Device (CID)
Introduction

The controller interface device (CID) developed at the Advanced Traffic Analysis Center (ATAC) at North Dakota State University supports hardware-in-the-loop simulation using PTV's VISSIM and Cube Dynasim traffic simulation models and NEMA TS 2 traffic signal controllers. A CORSIM 6.0 interface is also being developed.

ATACid is the product of several years of research and development by researchers and students to improve upon existing similar devices in a number of ways, including:

  • Works with powerful traffic simulation models
  • Uses current off-the-shelf technology
  • Cost effective
  • Small in size
  • Easy to set up and use
  • Ethernet connectivity allows it to talk to controllers virtually anywhere in the world
