ATACid's ability to communicate via Ethernet allows users to run analysis on controllers at virtually any location in the world, as long as they have a reliable Internet connection. This enables the use of ATACid/Controller combinations which are geographically dispersed via a virtual network of researchers. This capability can greatly reduce the cost of equipping a single lab with all the necessary controllers and CIDs. This in turn would increase the number of users of this advanced traffic simulation method, and hence, contribute to improving traffic signal operations overall.
