ATAC conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the Moorhead Area Train Detection and Traffic Control System for the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The project implemented ITS technologies of non-intrusive train detection and advanced traffic control to alleviate the impacts of trains blocking several rail crossings in the Moorhead area. The evaluation measured the impacts of the project on traffic delays and travel time and examined the accuracy of the train detection system. ATAC's Traffic Data Collection System with its Autoscope machine vision processing was used for the data collection at several major intersections in the study area.
