ATAC Intersection Traffic Volume Data (F-M Metropolitan Area)
Continuous traffic volume data can be valuable for several reasons: traffic operations personnel can evaluate intersection operation and safety; transportation planners can evaluate patterns based on growth and better calibrate transportation planning models; and businesses can determine the amount of traffic passing a store or advertising sign.
With assistance from F-M COG, several intersections ( below) have been set up by the city of Fargo to collect continuous traffic volume data. The number of counting stations is expected to increase as the city of Fargo and other metro agencies set up additional data collection procedures. ATAC has developed tools to process, analyze, and store the volume data for the F-M metro area. Note that not every lane or approach is being counted and the accuracy of the data is not guaranteed (view intersection specifics – PDF, 57K).
