    UGPTI program director Tim Horner provided background on North Dakota local road and bridge needs and UGPTI's outreach and education related to local roads during KFGO's "Afternoons Live with Tyler Axness." The interview was a follow-up to a county bridge collapse last week near Park River in Walsh County. Horner made reference to UGPTI's study of local roads and bridges, the ND Local Technical Assistance Program, the ND Truck Weight Calculator and GRIT, UGPTI's Geographic Roadway Inventory Tool.

    The Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute at North Dakota State University celebrated its 50th Anniversary Aug. 30 by hosting an interactive outdoor event featuring heavy trucks, emergency response vehicles, transportation safety exhibits and highlights of the Institute's history. Photos of the event are now available.

    The surface selection tool developed by the Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute (UGPTI) provides a means for local roadway managers to develop an economic basis to make the best treatment option decisions possible. This report will outline the development of the tool, how to use the tool, how the program adapts to additional information provided by the user base, and areas of further development for the tool.
